I drank bad tea in error NEW
by: Anonymous

I just had a drink of ice tea at an event, I felt something slimmy slide down my throat. Can you get sick from the slim built up in old tea? Like botulism or something?

"Bad" isn't necessarily bad
by: William Dean A. Garner

I have my black tea brewed 5 gallons at a time and store it unrefrigerated under the sink for weeks at a time. Yes, some bacterial threads do form but they appear to be harmless. I've had NO digestive problems or kidney problems over the three years I've been drinking it this way. Oh, I do take aliquots from the 5-gal container and dilute them 1 part tea to 3 parts distilled water.

About a week for green & black - Iced TEa
by: Wren, Site Guest

I have a coffee pot specifically for brewing my green & my boyfriend's black teas for icing. (Before you ask, No, the hotter water doesn't affect the green tea negatively!) I brew 2 pots for me and 4 pots for him for the week. His I add sugar too, and it has kept for eight days before it went bad on the ninth day. (We forgot a bottle in the back of the fridge, lol.)
Herbal teas I normally make fresh, but I've had thyme and rosemary infusions last several days.

Iced Tea - How to Store
by: Teya - Admin

Hi there,

One of the things that I always do when making my iced tea at home is try to make just as much as we are going to drink for that day (24 hours).

Often the iced tea will become bitter or taste off after 1 day.

You can store it in a glass container with a lid to try to preserve the ice tea a little longer, but it still can taste off.

Never store your iced tea in plastic - It will pick up the taste of other items you have had stored in the container. Plastic Iced Tea containters or juice containers do retain the flavor in the jug. So try to use glass containers to serve and store your iced tea.

Hope this helps,
Teya
