The leaves of Thyme are usually evergreen and are narrow. Thyme is rich in history and was used by the Egyptians in embalming, by the ancient Greeks in baths and incense to impart courage but it is thought to be the Romans who spread its popularity through out Europe and then the rest of the world.
Today Thyme is most widely used as a spice in cooking and can be found in most spice racks. It is used to season many meat dishes and goes well with tomato and eggs. Thyme is available fresh, dried and powdered and is one of the few herbs that retain most of the flavor even when dried.

Thyme TeaThyme tea can be prepared using fresh or dried herb. If using fresh you will use 3 times the amount as the dried. Steep 1 teaspoon dried herb in 8 ounces of boiling water for 10 minutes.
