Thai Iced Tea Recipe

Ever wanted to try a Thai Iced Tea Recipe at home? Well, here is your chance. This is an easy recipe for Thai Ice Tea.

There are a few ingredients that make this tea really special, the spices and the evaporated milk. You need to get these right. No substitutes for the evaporated milk (in a can - thick and sweet) or it just won't be right.

Recipe for Thai Iced Tea

Traditional Thai Ice Tea

  • 3 cups of cold, fresh water
  • 4 Thai tea bags (found in most Asian food stores)
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 6 mint leaves for garnish
  • half a cup evaporated milk
  • Crushed ice

Bring water to a boil in a kettle. Place the tea bags, cinnamon and cardamom in a bowl. Pour 3 cups boiling water over the tea bags and spices, and the sugar.

Let it steep for five minutes, and remove the tea bags. Let the tea cool to lukewarm.

For a blended thai tea:

Place 2 cups of ice in a blender, add tea, sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and evaporated milk. Blend till ice is crushed.

Pour into tall glasses and serve with a couple of mint leaves and serve.

For a more traditional Thai Tea:

Fill tall glasses 2/3 full with ice cubes, add equal parts tea and evaporated milk, sprinkle with cinnamon, and garnish with peppermint.

You will love it!
