Tea Tree Oil Herb
Tea Tree Oil is and extraction from the Melaleuca Tree native to South Wales and Australia. Tea Tree Oil is believed to have many medicinal values including antiseptic, antibiotic and cosmetic properties. The leaves of the Melaleuca tree have been used through out history for coughs and colds and for sore throats and skin afflictions. It was not until the 1920’s however was it discovered to be antimicrobial.
The Tea Tree Oil market was discovered and production ebbed after World War II when demand decreased due to technological advances in medicine and the development of effective antibiotics was introduced; the natural remedies seemingly outdated then. Interest in natural products made resurgence in the 1970’s and plantations of the Melaleuca trees were developed and production of the oil began again.
A company commercialized on the Tea Tree Oil and named itself after the tree from which it is drawn; Melaleuca Wellness Company began making natural products that contain Tea Tree Oil and is still marketed today selling in countries all over the world with the Tea Tree Oil being in over 75% of their products.
