Strawberry Herb

Strawberry is an edible fruit from the Strawberry plant which is a member of the Rose family and is grown in all temperate regions around the world. The common Strawberry found today is actually a hybrid of the North American and South American Strawberry as a result in a mistake. When introduced in Europe only the female South American Strawberry was brought over and they were forced to cross breed it with the male North American Strawberry to produce fruit and seed.

Strawberries can be grown in the garden or even in a pot and enjoyed at home. They are often found as patio plants and have special planters available that help provide the most berries in the least amount of space by providing large holes for the plant to grow and produce in a layered type environment.

Strawberries are primarily used as food with a few alternate uses found. They are commonly eaten raw as well as being made into jams and jellies, deserts and toppings. The leaves of the Strawberry plant have medicinal purposes and the oil is used to scent candles and lotions as well as incense.

A tea can be prepared from Strawberry leaves by steeping 1 teaspoon dried leaves in 8 ounces of boiling water for 10 minutes; add a fresh strawberry to flavor.
