powdered ice tea - expiry date

I found can dated 6 years ago but was told powdered ice tea mix lasts indefinatly, is that true?

Answer:

Well, personally, yes it expires. Read the label and you will see it is full of preservatives, etc.

They do this to keep the ice tea fresh tasting. The manufacture or expiry date is there as a best before date or control date.

There will be a flavoring like lemon etc, powdered tea and sugar or sweetner. Any one of these could go bad and make you sick. They may not, but they could.

I would not advise drinking powdered ice tea that is six years old. Not worth the possibility of it making you sick.
