Oregano Herb - Herbal Tea

Oregano Herb

Oregano, also known as Pot Marjoram is native to the Mediterranean region and central Asia. Used often in Italian and Greek cuisine, Oregano offers a warm and slightly bitter taste that blends well with the sweet taste of basil in many Italian dishes. The dish most widely associated with Oregano is Pizza.

Oregano is a perennial herb in the mint family and is most commonly used as a spice or seasoning and is often grown as a kitchen herb. Oregano grows about 2 feet tall and can spread about 18 inches so requires a larger pot to fully do well. Click here to read more about growing oregano. The leaves can then be snipped off and dried to be used in recipes, dishes or made into a nice oregano tea.

Oregano Tea

Oregano tea is prepared by steeping 1 teaspoon dried oregano or 3 tablespoons fresh crushed herb in 8 ounces of boiling water for 10 minutes.
