Medicinal Tea - Herbal Teas
Medicinal Teas have been around as long as man himself, and are deeply rooted in Asian traditions.
More recently, Westerners are beginning to appreciate the healing properties of healing teas as more and more scientific studies are being released.
Different types of medicinal or herbal teas have been used for different conditions, such as aiding in digestion or fighting infection.
Many other herbal teas are preventitive and can help prevent and deter things like cancer, gum disease, and other illnesses.
Fresh Herbs or Dried Herbs for Tea
When making medicinal or herbal tea, you can use either fresh or dried herbs. Most recipes you find will call for dried herbs so here is the ratio if you are using fresh herbs.
1 tablespoon Fresh Herbs equals 1 teaspoon of Dried Herbs
You can interchange fresh and dried herbs as long as you stick to the above ratio.
How do Medicinal-Teas Work?
Herbal teas being used for therapeutic reasons are effective because when the boiling water is poured over the herb, dried or fresh, the herbs cell walls break down and the organic compounds and essences are released into the 'Tea.
You can blend and mix many herbs to get just the right healing tea that you need. It is an art - learned over many years.
