kombucha tea

Hi I bought a culture and got it started. The first batch was good. We started the second batch from some of the first culture. But it doesn't bubble and it seems that its not as strong. Thanks

You should have used the entire culture in your second batch?

Also, did you save some liquid from the first batch to make the second? Sounds like you may not have had enough of the culture or starter liquid.

Also, did you use the same type of tea both times? The type of tea used to brew the kombucha will have different outcomes.

kombucha tea ruined if bumped?

by Purple

My jar that I have been brewing kombucha in for about a week now is over in the corner of our room, on a little coffee table. During one of my dogs daily flip-outs she jumped up on the table, knocking the jar against the wall, spilling some, and caused the baby to float to the middle. What will this do to my tea? Should I take either the mother or baby out and start a new one, while letting this one finish brewing? Or start all over with one or the other?

Making Kombucha - What type of tea should I use?

Herbal Kombucha

Hi,

Does anyone know if it matters what type of tea I use when I make Kombucha tea?

I have tried it with black tea and also with green tea but I am wondering if anyone has tried making it with Rooibos or Herbal Teas?

I am thinking that this may not work as neither the herbal teas or the Rooibos is actual tea. The picture is of elderberry flower Kombucha and I am just wondering how to do things like this.

I am interested to know if anyone has tried this or has any comments or suggestions.

Maybe I just need to add some flavour? If I wanted to do this with herbs, like bergamont how would I do it.

Thanks for any help!

A kombucha tea lover.

ps. I really like your site, lots of information!
