The Health Benefits of Ginger and Ginger Tea are actually quite amazing.

Historically, Ginger has been used for 1000's of years in China for medicinal purposes. Chinese records dating back to 400 B.C. indicate it was used to treat such conditions as:

  • Stomach Ache
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Cholera
  • Hemorrhage
  • Rheumatism
  • Toothaches

Ginger is still used as a powerful herbal today. Todays uses include those above plus, Cholestorol Lowering Effects, Motion Sickness, Early Pregnancy Vomiting, and for the treatment of Inflammatory Conditions. Click here for information about Ginger as a Detox Aid.

With such varied uses, and the length of time that it has been used as a healing herb in society, Ginger has earned its place as a top healing herb.

Ginger is a perennial herb that has a thick tuberous root. Ginger Root is the root that is used in herbal medicine. This root grows underground.

Ginger is native to Southern Asia, however it is now cultivated in many countries. Fresh Ginger holds the most healing properties as with most herbs when compared to the powdered form. Ginger Root is readily available in most grocers and vegetable markets. Look for firm, full roots when buying. If there is any sign of wilting or shrinkage, look for a better specimin. Ginger root can be stored in the fridge or freezer. If freezing, it is a good idea to peel the root first, so you can simply grate the frozen root as needed.

Ginger can also be ingested for medicinal and healing reasons in the form of Ginger Extract .

Ginger can be made into a lovely Spicey Ginger Tea that will provide relief for many of the above illnesses and conditions. If you don't have time to make your own tea, eVitamins has a great deal on Organic Ginger Tea.
