Glaucoma and green tea have been in the news lately. For those suffering from glaucoma, green tea may be able to provide some relief.

Effects of Green Tea on Glaucoma
Green Tea contains a substance commonly called ECGC - ECGC is epigallocatechin-gallate.
It has the following positive positive effects on eye health:
- Protects the Eye from UV Damage
- Can help in the prevention of cataracts
- Can prevent the onset of Glaucoma
- Can prevent degenerative eye disease
As glaucoma is a degenerative disease, green tea and ECGC are best used to prevent the onset by keeping your eyes strong and healthy. Glaucoma can cause blindness and the anti oxidants in green tea can help fight the cell damage and destroy the free radicals that affect the area of the eye causing glaucoma.
Green tea has not been proven to reverse the effects of blindness caused by Glaucoma, but is helpful in preventing and maintaining eye health.
