Fresh or dried? How to Make Eucalyptus Tea

by Tony
(Kundabung)

Tea Question

Can i pick fresh eucalyptus leaves to brew tea with or is it best to dry them first?

Answer

Thanks for the question about how to make eucalyptus tea. If you are lucky enough to be able to get fresh eucalyptus leaves, yes you can use them to brew tea. The oils are more readily available in the fresh leaves when you brew the tea, so you will get a much stronger tea than if you use dried eucalyptus leaves.

So, yes - go ahead and use the fresh leaves, just adjust your brewing time and the amount of herb used to get the right strength and flavor that you desire. Eucalyptus can become bitter if you brew it too long - so use caution, but other than that you are lucky to have the fresh leaves.

Hope this helps,

Teya
