Dong Quai Herb
There are many types of Dong Quai also known as American Angelica. Dong Quai, part of the Celery family is often referred to as Female Ginseng. Dong Quai root has been used in China, Japan and Korea for thousands of years to treat many forms of female complaints, blood ailments and stomach ailments.
Dong Quai prefers the colder mountainous regions of China, Korea and Japan and blooms with clusters of white flowers in mid to late summer. The Dong Quai root is the medicinal part of the plant most commonly used.

Dong Quai tea can be prepared by using 1 teaspoon of dried Angelica to 8 ounces of boiling water and steeped for 10 minutes.

A tonic of Dong Quai is said to be a good daily tonic for its ability to strengthen the heart and aid in all forms of stomach disorders.
Dong Quai is a common tea for woman as it is effective in regulating menstruation as well as helping to relieve the cramping associated with menstruation. Menopausal hormonal fluctuations and symptoms are said to be regulated with the use of Dong Quai as well. Dong Quai has even been reported to increase female libido.
Dong Quai has an antibacterial action that can be used to treat gout, athlete’s foot and even acne when the root is made into an infusion.
